Fractionated Coconut Oil: What is it? Where to Buy it?

Fractionated Coconut Oil

Fractionated Coconut OilMany people use coconut oil for their everyday cooking needs because coconut oil has been shown to be one of the healthiest cooking oils on the market. But there are several types of coconut oil, and most people do not realize this.

What is Fractionated Coconut Oil?

Basically, when something is fractionated, it is a part of the whole. In the case of coconut oil, this means it is a part of the whole oil. Fractionated coconut oil is coconut oil that has had its fatty acids separated out for different uses, such as medical uses, cosmetics or special diets.

Fractionated vs Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil

Organic extra virgin coconut oil is typically included in the diet. It is often what is used for cooking. On the other hand, the fractionated type of coconut oil is considered to be a good carrier oil which means that it can be used in conjunction with other oils, such as tea tree, lavender or lemon oil. It is used in skin care and other topical therapies. It can be used in bug repellant, moisturizers and hair serums. In other words, you would not use the fractionated variety to cook with, but it has many, many other uses. Dry skin will benefit from fractionated coconut oil as it absorbs easily and will not clog the pores. This type of coconut oil is also great for healing rashes, because it is high in both capric and caprylic acids, and has antioxidants.

Where Can You Buy Fractionated Coconut Oil?

Now that you know what it is and what it does, where can you buy this type of coconut oil, and what should you look for when purchasing it? You can easily purchase fractionated coconut oil online in both bulk and by the individual dram bottle. It can be bought at local health food stores, too. You can often find it in craft stores, if they have a soap making department, as it is a carrier oil that is often used in soaps. Look at the price when you shop, as you can get some great deals when buying large quantities. It has a much longer shelf life than other types of coconut oil, so it is okay to purchase larger bottles, or buy dram bottles in bulk, as they will keep.
